Athens police seek Burger King burglar

Athens-Clarke County police said they were investigating an early Tuesday morning burglary at Burger King on Hawthorne Avenue.

Officers responded to the fast-food restaurant on a 4:45 a.m. report by an employee who, upon arriving for work, noticed a broken window in the back of the business, police said.

Surveillance video evidence indicated that the burglary occurred at about 2 a.m., when the offender broke the window, entered the business, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.

The male suspect had a slim build, wore black clothing, and wrapped his head with a shirt to conceal his identity, police said.

Police asked that anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Paul Davidson at (706) 353-4218, ext. 138.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
