Athens residents can start casting votes today for May 21st general primary

Athens-Clarke County residents can start casting their votes today for the upcoming general primary.

Early voting begins Monday, April 29 and ends Friday, May 17. Local ballot measures include races for county commissioners in districts 2, 6 and 8 and a democratic primary for Clarke County sheriff, coroner and tax commissioner. However, there are no republicans running against the democratic primary candidates, so this election will decide the outcome. In neighboring Oconee county, voters will decide on 10 ballot questions designed to make changes to the county’s homestead exemption.

The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections office is the only location open for early voting from April 29 until Saturday, May 11.
