Athens schools closed on Monday

Due to the lingering road conditions from this weekend’s snow, all CCSD schools and offices will be closed Monday, February 2, in the safety interests of students, staff, and families. All after-school and extracurricular activities for Monday are also canceled. 

This decision was made with great care after CCSD staff diligently drove throughout the entire county this afternoon and encountered areas of ice and standing water that will refreeze overnight to create unsafe conditions for our buses, young drivers, and staff.

We will continue to closely monitor the conditions of all our roads and at our buildings and will provide an update on the status of school for Tuesday, February 3, as soon as a decision has been made on Monday. 

Student registration note for our media partners

Monday, Feb. 2, is the start of Pre-K Lottery registration and K-12 new student enrollment. While registration is an online process and the online application will be available beginning Monday, any in-person appointments that had been scheduled for assistance on Monday have been canceled. Representatives from the district student registration team will reach out to families with options for rescheduling.
