Athens woman needs help laying murdered brother to rest

Athens resident Antwone Shalmar Lay was 29 years old when he was shot to death in the parking lot of a Jackson County church on July 10.

Now Antwone’s sister is reaching out to the community for help in preparing his final resting place.

“We are trying to raise money for his funeral,” Deborah Mattox said. “We are hoping he could have a grave where we can go see him instead of cremating him.”
