A Clarke County grand jury this week re-indicted an Athens woman for allegedly shooting another woman and pistol-whipping the victim’s sister during an altercation earlier this year in a north Athens neighborhood.

Aaliyah Michelle Eberhart, 25, of Coleridge Court was initially indicted April 30 on two counts of aggravated assault.

In a superseding indictment filed Tuesday in Clarke County Superior Court, Eberhart was charged with the additional offenses of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a first-offender probationer.

According to Athens-Clarke County police and court records, the incident occurred Jan. 28 on Deer Creek Drive where Eberhart allegedly shot a 20-year-old Colbert woman and used the gun to strike the woman’s 23-year-old sister

According to Athens-Clarke County police spokeswoman Shashi Charles, Eberhart “had an ongoing issue between the two subjects that escalated to the shooting.”

Eberhart was arrested Feb. 5 and has since been held at the Clarke County Jail without bail. She is scheduled to be arraigned on the superseding indictment Aug. 26 in Superior Court.
