The following has been released by Nuci’s Space;

Athens, GA — Nuçi’s Space, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing suicide and supporting the mental health of musicians, will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a milestone event on Friday, December 12, at the Georgia Theatre.

Since opening in 2000, Nuçi’s Space has been a safe haven for the Athens music community and beyond, championing resources, advocacy, and acceptance for people from all walks of life. Central to Nuçi’s Space’s work is its mission to prevent suicide. With a focus on musicians, the organization offers affordable access to professional care, support groups, education, youth programs, and a welcoming community resource center.

The evening will feature live performances from beloved Athens musicians, including Patterson Hood and Camp Amped alumna Willow Avalon, as well as other surprise special guests—honoring the creative spirit that has fueled our community and the mission of Nuçi’s Space for a quarter century. This celebration will not only look back on 25 years of impact but also shine a light on the future of music, mental health, and community care.

By addressing brain illnesses with compassion and breaking down barriers to treatment, Nuçi’s Space continues to change — and save — lives.

In the spirit of celebration, Nuçi’s Space has also partnered with Condor Chocolates to release a limited-edition 25th Anniversary Chocolate Bar. Each purchase includes a chance to win the Golden Ticket — a free pair of tickets to this unforgettable concert.

The bars launch on September 30, Nuçi’s official 25th birthday and the final day of Suicide Prevention Month. To mark the occasion, Nuçi’s Space will host a day of celebration and reflection at its facility, featuring a Suicide Prevention Month Reflection Station, an anniversary video recording booth, coloring activities for kids, coffee and chocolate tastings, and BYOR (Bring Your Own Record) to spin on the turntable.

Quotes:

“Musicians face unique pressures, and mental health struggles often go unseen. Nuçi’s Space has spent 25 years being a safe harbor, supporting musicians, preventing suicide, and keeping our creative community alive and thriving. They have made a profound difference in the lives of countless individuals, including myself, bandmates, my wife, and many I know and love.  Nuçi’s Space is a key part of what makes Athens continue to be so important and special. I can’t wait to celebrate at the Georgia Theatre with everyone.”

— Patterson Hood, Drive-By Truckers

"This milestone isn’t just a celebration of the past 25 years, but a commitment to the next 25. Linda’s vision continues to guide everything we do, and we’re honored to carry that mission forward."

— Debbie Watson, Executive Director of Nuçi’s Space

"I think I speak for the staff, the board, and the many volunteers, to say that we get back a lot more than we give. It is a privilege to have the confidence of someone who is hurting, someone who puts his/her trust into our hands. We haven't filled that hole in the goodness quotient left by the loss of Nuçi but we'll keep trying. The work we do is truly a gift for me."

— Linda Phillips, the late Nuçi’s Space founder and Nuçi’s mom, from her memoir A Beautiful Here

25 Years in Numbers:

  • Over 30,000 musicians served

  • Over 500 youth mentored through Camp Amped

  • Since its inception, Nuçi’s Space has provided obstacle-free treatment to over 5,000 clients in need of access to mental health care services and subsidized over 35,000 counseling appointments, at a cost of almost four million dollars.
