The City of Winder utilities department confirms there is no natural gas leak in the areas between State Route 11, downtown Winder, and State Route 211.
Since Monday, July 15, 2024, the City’s gas department staff along with Winder Fire Department personnel have received and responded to numerous calls reporting a foul odor resembling that of a natural gas leak.
After thorough investigations over the last three days, it has been confirmed by the City’s gas department staff that the odor is not related to a natural gas leak.
According to Mayor Jimmy Terrell, “Winder personnel traced the odor to a non-dangerous issue which is being corrected. There is no danger to the community."
