Controlled burn at Sandy Creek Nature Center

It was a hot time in the piedmont prairie on Friday! With a lot of help from a lot of people, including the ACC Sustainability Department and the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department, Sandy Creek Nature Center held their annual prescribed prairie burn, a controlled fire used to manage and revitalize native grasslands. This process helps control invasive species, promote new growth, and maintain a healthy ecosystem. We'd like to extend a huge "Thank You!" to everyone who made it possible, and most importantly: safe.
