A man and his wife reportedly have been murdered in Barrow County, both shot to death in their home in the Kendall Park subdivision in Winder.
According to the county sheriff's office, deputies responded at 5:42 a.m. to 843 Kendall Park Drive in reference to a 911 call reporting that people inside the home had been shot.
Upon their arrival, the deputies discovered a 66-year-old woman and her 64-year-old husband were both dead from gunshot wounds, the Barrow County Sheriff's Office said.
The person who made the call to 911 had also been shot and transported to an area hospital.
Sheriff Jud Smith said that the surviving victim was a 35-year-old man was a family member who lived at the residence and was believed to be the son of the slain couple.
Although the surviving victim was hospitalized, Smith said his injuries were not life-threatening.
"When we are able to speak with him, that will hopefully give us some answers about what happened," Smith said.
The sheriff's said that investigators believed that the victims knew who shot them and that the incident was not a random event.
The investigation is continuing and more details will be released as they become available, the agency said.
