Driver took down line of mailboxes while under the influence of drugs and alcohol

By Joe Johnson

Raven Leighann Thrasher, 35, of Noketchee Drive, was arrested earlier this month after she caused property damage with her car while allegedly driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Police say they were notified at about 4:50 a.m. on May 23rd that a car took out a line of mailboxes on the front lawns of several homes in Oconee County then left the scene, crossing over the county line.

An Athens-Clarke County police officer spotted Thrasher’s heavily damaged car being driven erratically on Atlanta Highway and conducted a traffic stop,

A police report described the woman as being obviously intoxicated, smelling of alcohol and falling asleep while the officer tried speaking with her.

The report noted that empty and partially full prescription pill bottles were found in the car, along with a container “of liquid that smelled distinctly like Jack Daniels and Coca-Cola mixed.”

Thrasher was charged with driving under the influence of multiple substances, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office indicated that warrants would be sought charging her with hit and run.
