Treshun Rashaad Edwards, 32, of Smokey Road was arrested the night of August 4th by a police officer who identified him as an alleged drug trafficker by checking his license plate number.

The officer reports that he was patrolling North Avenue at about 10 p.m. when he randomly checked the license plate numbers of vehicles parked at the Apex convenience store,

When he found that a tag displayed on Chrysler 300 sedan was registered to a Ford Edge SUV, the officer began following the vehicle as it left the store.

The car accelerated away from the officer and turned onto Old Hull Road, where it pulled into the Serene at Northside apartment complex and a passenger got out with his hands in the air.

After the car drove away from the complex at very high speed, the officer chased after but broke off the pursuit because of hazardous weather conditions.

He reported that the car was later found parked unoccupied outside of a home in the Hallmark Estates trailer park off Spring Valley Road.

Edwards was found hiding in the bathroom of the home and arrested. A search of his car found a large amount of methamphetamine and various opioid pills.

He was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, felony fleeing and eluding police, along with several motor vehicle law violations.

He was denied bail and is being held in pretrial detention at the county jail.
