Dana Leighann Burns, 41, of Toccoa, was arrested on September 23rd for allegedly driving under the influence of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
A police officer reported that he pulled over the woman’s car on Old West Broad Street after seeing it without taillights and being driven erratically. He further noted that Burns had failed to immediately stop after activating his lights and siren.
Burns reportedly told the officer that she realized that she had swerved her car, but it was to avoid a pothole.
After being asked to explain her slurred speech and glazed eyes, she admitted that she had smoked fentanyl and meth earlier in the day. Drug paraphernalia was in plain view inside the car,
Burns was arrested for DUI drugs, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and cited for the taillights and as of today remains at the county jail in lieu of bonds totaling $2,500.
