A Clarke County grand jury has indicted a former teacher who allegedly sexually assaulted a student while he was employed at Cedar Shoals High School.
Sirius Michaels, 34, was charged with improper sexual contact by a teacher, sexual battery, simple battery, two counts of stalking, and making false statements, according to the indictment filed June 17th in Superior Court.
Police initiated an investigation in January 2024 after Michaels was placed on administrative leave for allegedly having engaged in what the school district called "inappropriate conduct involving students."
Following his dismissal, Michaels was arrested for an alleged stalking incident at an Atlanta Highway pizzeria that police said was related to his conduct at that school. Police would not explain how they were related.
Free on bail and wearing a GPS monitor, Michaels is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
