An Athens teen was arrested Wednesday for allegedly shooting a man early Sunday morning at the Nellie B homes housing complex in east Athens.

According to an Athens-Clarke County police report, officers responded to 130 Zatella Lane at about midnight to investigate a report that someone had been shot.

Upon arrival, they found 27-year-old Washington Drive resident Keyron Lenor Pass lying in the grass at the corner of Zatella Lane and East Carver Drive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and legs.

Pass was transported to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, and he remained hospitalized on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Multiple bystanders said the shooter was a teen who went by the alias of “Fat,” according to the police incident report.

Capt. Chris Nichols, commanding officer of the Athens-Clarke County police Criminal Investigations Division, said that detectives learned that Fat was Jermores Ridgeway, 17, of Rose Street.

Police did not release a motive for the shooting.

Ridgeway was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault, Nichols said, and he was being held without bond at the county jail.
