At about 12:19 p.m. Saturday, Athens-Clarke County police responded to a complaint of an armed robbery of a person in the parking lot of the IHOP on Baxter Street.
A suspect vehicle description was broadcasted to officers, one of whom was in the area and spotted the white Ford Fusion on which a traffic stop was subsequently conducted, police said.
Officers smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
The driver, 18-year-old Jordan Lamar Hill of Hollow Ridge Drive, matched the description of the armed robbery suspect, according to police. He was detained and evidence linking him to the armed robbery, including a stolen gun, as well drug offenses were located in the vehicle.
Hill was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
He was denied bail during a Sunday hearing before a Magistrate Court judge and as of Monday continued to be held at the Clarke County Jail.
Hopefully he gets 20 years
