The Athens-Clarke County Police Department on Tuesday released a sketch of the suspect in a weekend home-invasion assault on a University of Georgia student.
The sketch was created by a Georgia Bureau of Investigation forensic sketch artist.
The sketch depicts the person of interest that was seen in the area prior to the assault. Police said of importance to note is that the wave cap or do-rag he was wearing at the time was orange in color.
Police said the suspect was described as a black male, approximately 20 to 30 years old, and was wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.
The incident, which police said was possibly sexual in nature, occurred at about 2 p.m. Saturday, when the 21-year-old victim told police that when returning to her home in the 100 block of East Cloverhurst Avenue her assailant followed her inside where he attacked her and demanded money.
The victim said she lost consciousness and awoke after the suspect had left, according to police.
“As far as we know nothing was taken” from the victim's home, said Lt. John Radford, the police department’s acting public information officer.
“It does appear to motivated by a sexual assault,” he said.
