A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a shooting Tuesday afternoon that wounded two older teens at the Nellie B Homes public housing community, Athens-Clarke County police announced Friday afternoon.
The shooting reportedly was preceded by an altercation concerning social media “trash talk,”
One of the victims was a 17-year-old male who was shot pin the leg, police said, and the other was a 16-year-old male who was shot in the upper back.
Police said that after the suspect was identified during an investigation, a detective secured a juvenile pickup order charging the juvenile suspect with four counts of aggravated assault
The boy was subsequently arrested by Athens-Clarke sheriff’s deputies and taken to the shstiff’s office to be transported to a Regional Youth Detention Center.
Police asked for anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact Det. Paul Johnson at (762) 400-7060 or paul.johnson@accgov.com
