A man was recently arrested for reckless driving by a police officer who clocked his car traveling at 111 mph on the Athens Perimeter.

The officer reported that she was monitoring traffic at about 11 p.m. on April 17 when a 2020 Porsche Taycan approached at a speed she estimated to be in excess of 100 mph.

The officer used a DragonEye Speed Lidar device to confirm that the car was doing 111 mph.

A traffic stop was made at the College Station Road exit ramp and the driver immediately acknowledged that he knew the reason he was stopped.

“I know,” Samee Bhamani said to the officer.

The 21-year-old Marietta resident was arrested and his passenger was allowed to drive away with the car.
