Man killed when dirt bike crashes in Athens

Released this afternoon by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department
On May 16, at approximately 1:55 PM, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded
to a single-vehicle dirt bike crash near the intersection of Whit Davis Road and Pettit Lane.
When ACCPD arrived, the operator of the dirt bike, Worley Lorenzo Robinson, a 28-year-old
male from Elberton, Georgia, was located in the roadway with critical injuries.
ACCPD’s initial investigation indicated that Robinson was operating a 2012 Suzuki RM-Z450L
traveling northbound on Whit Davis Road near Pettit Lane when the crash occurred. EMS
transported Robinson to a local hospital in critical condition.
On May 18, ACCPD received notification that Robinson succumbed to his injuries. The incident
remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crash should contact

This is the fifth fatal crash in Athens-Clarke County in 2026.
