Hakim Williams denied firing a gun during an altercation with his former girlfriend, but video from the smart glasses he was wearing during the incident told a different story.
The incident happened outside of the 28-year-old man’s home on Highland Park Drive where he and Amberniqueka Lawrence were arguing about some belongings that she had come to retrieve.
She reported that Williams kept reaching for a gun that was tucked in his waistband and at one point he fired a round from the weapon towards a wooded area. The couple’s infant son was in her car at the time, and Lawrence told police that Williams’ actions terrified her.
When Williams denied firing the gun Lawrence told police that the incident had been recorded by the Meta glasses he was wearing, and with his permission the incriminating footage was downloaded from the high-tech eyewear.
Williams was subsequently arrested for reckless conduct for firing the gun in a residential neighborhood.
Lawrence also was arrested for simple assault because she had threatened Williams with pepper spray.
A relative took custody of the child before Lawrence was taken to jail.
