Man serves jail time for defecating on downtown property

Danny Gene Evans recently spent over a week in jail after he pleaded guilty to defecating in the entrance of a building on East Clayton Street.

The 64-year-old homeless man had been arrested on September 15th after the property manager found human feces on the front door and security bars,

Police identified Evans as being responsible from surveillance video footage and they arrested him upon finding him asleep on a bench nearby.

On September 26th Evans pleaded guilty to defecating in public and was sentenced to 11 days in jail and a six-month probationary period in which he is banned from Athens-Clarke County.
