Notorious Walmart shoplifter Speedy Gonzalez charged in Athens theft case

Speedy Gonzalez has been formally accused in a felony Athens theft case.
The 42-year-old Buford man is a notorious “box stuffer” who targeted Walmart stores throughout northern Georgia to steal merchandise valued at tens of thousands of dollars
Box-stuffing thieves remove merchandise from their packaging and then stuff the empty box with smaller, more expensive items.
In the Athens case Gonzalez is accused of stealing from Walmart on Lexington Road, where he allegedly removed a mailbox from its packaging and then filled it with items that included medical supplies,‘household goods and an electric toothbrush.
The actual value of the merchandise is unknown so it’s said in the court filing to have been in excess of $500.
Also charged in the Superior Court accusation is
Gonzalez’s alleged accomplice, 30-year-old Buford resident Ainsley Paiton Holbrook.
She allegedly paid for the empty mailbox box at the Walmart self-checkout station.
Gonzalez and Holbrook are scheduled to be arraigned on October 6th.
