A nurse was assaulted by a resident last week at University Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Epps Bridge Road.
The incident occurred on the morning of May 5th when the nurse confronted the male resident about being in the room of a female resident and trying to take her belongings.
While the nurse was bent over and picking items off the floor, the resident punched her in the face, and upon standing he struck her in the side and kicked her knee.
Police determined that the resident was alert and oriented when he correctly answered questions about who was president, where he was, and the day of the week.
He was taken by ambulance to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
