A 42-year-old Athens man is expected to recover from injuries he suffered when stabbed repeatedly by his son early Monday morning at their home on Cardinal Creek Lane.
According to an Athens-Clark County Police Department report that was made public Thursday, Takaiyous Allen called 911 at 2:59 a.m. and reported that he had been stabbed more than 20 times by his son, 20-year-old Caleb Antoine Allen.
A communications officer reportedly heard the sounds of a scuffle before the phone call abruptly ended.
When officers arrived at the scene, the report stated, they followed a trail of blood that began at the front of the house, moved through the garage and led to where Takaiyous was in a bathroom, covered in blood.
The officers provided first aid until they were relieved by emergency medical personnel who transported the critically-injured man to the hospital.
Caleb had already left in a car, but he was quickly arrested by deputies in Jackson County who located him and the vehicle.
Upon being returned to Athens, Caleb was charged under the state Family Violence Act with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, obstruction of a 911 and felony theft by taking.
"Our detectives are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident and do not have a motive at this time," ACCPD Public Information Assistant Geof Gilland said.
As for Takaiyous, the police spokesman said, "The victim is expected to recover from injuries sustained in the incident."

This is a good example of why we need stronger knife control measures.
How on God's green earth could a son do that to his father? Praying the fathers wounds heal quickly. The mental part will be slow in coming, if ever.
