Police release video of goPuff robbery suspects

By Joe Johnson

Athens-Clarke County police on Monday released a video they hope will lead to the identification and arrest of two men who robbed the northside warehouse of an online delivery service last month.

The armed robbery occurred at about 11:20 p.m. May 31 at goPuff, an online service that makes home deliveries of convenience store goods from a warehouse in the 1900 block of Commerce Road.

In the video, the suspects are seen approaching the Commerce Road warehouse prior to going inside and forcing an employee to open a safe, according to police.

The employee told Classic City News that the robbers stole more than $7,000 and took cellphones to prevent employees from calling 911.

He said that the robbers were black males who had shirts wrapped around their heads to conceal their faces.

One suspect was described by police as slim and about 5-feet-9and the other as shorter and heavy-set.

When viewing the video, detectives asked that members of the public pay attention to the distinctive walk of the short suspect, who may have distinctive tattoos on his right arm.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 in this case.

Police asked that anyone with information contact Detective Paul Johnson at (706) 613-3330, ext. 522 or paul.Johnson@accgov.com.
