Lonneshia Shafaye Appling was high on methamphetamine on the morning of December 16th when she crashed her car into the Alps Road Kroger, injuring several employees and shoppers.
That’s according to arrest records filed in court by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.
The most seriously injured victim was a Kroger employee whose skull was fractured.
Appling is a 40-year-old career criminal whose extensive rap sheet includes felony shoplifting convictions for stealing from supermarkets like Kroger.
She was arrested on warrants one week after the car incident on charges of DUI drugs, reckless driving, and causing serious injuries with a vehicle.
While the charges filed by police do not address any possible intent by Appling to purposely crash into the building, the matter continues to be investigated prior to it being presented to a grand jury for consideration of any additional charges.
She continues to be held without bail at the county jaill.
