The following was released by the Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services Department:
C-shift crews were dispatched to a multifamily structure fire on Vine St. at 10:47pm on January 22nd. Arriving first to find heavy flames and smoke, Engine 21 made a fast attack on the seat of the fire in an apartment on the first floor. Additional crews provided water supply, conducted primary search, evacuated residents, checked for fire extension, and ventilated the building.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
