Science fact of the day: Barred Owls reuse abandoned nests

Although Barred Owls prefer nesting in tree hollows, they will sometimes reuse nests that have been abandoned by other animals.

These include nests made by a wide range of creatures, including squirrels and hawks.

They will also sometimes use nest boxes in forest habitats.
