A second person has been charged with murder in connection with a drive by shooting earlier this month that targeted a party being held at a house near the University of Georgia campus.

Glendarius Jamius Tate, 20, of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway was arrested Wednesday night for his alleged involvement in the shooting on Northview Drive that claimed the life of 24-year-old Ja’ Vanni McDavid.

Anthony Quinn Brown, 19, of Magnolia Street, was previously charged with murder for the March 5 incident.

More than 40 gunshots reportedly were fired from a car at 136 Northview Drive where the party was being held and where McDavid was fatally injured.

Police said they were investigating the possibility that the shooting was gang related.

The crime scene is located just across the street from the UGA campus and the Foley Field baseball stadium, and in the shooting’s immediate aftermath the university's police department issued an electronic “timely warning” to alert members of the university community about a potential threat to their safety.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police asked for anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Detective Paul Johnson at 762-400-7060 or paul.johnson@accgov.com.
