Street gang leader arrested for drug trafficking and illegal weapons

A purported leader im the 18th Street gang has been arrested at his home in east Athens.
Kevin Adonay Castro was arrested on drug trafficking and weapons charges In connection with an ongoing investigation by the Athens-Clarke Police Department Gang Unit and Nkrtheast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force..
The 21-year-old gangster was taken into custody on June 18th at his home on Firewood Street, according to a police report made public Monday.
Warrants on file in Superior Court reveal that evidence seized from Castro’s residence included large quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, an AR-15 assault rifle, a .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol, and a Mac-11 machine pistol with a bandanna tied around the magazine,

An arrest warrant describes Castro as an organizer/manager within the 18th Street Gang who supervised firearms-protected drug sales.
Among his charges are trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, violating the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, multiple counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and holding a position of authority in a street gang,
Castro is being held without bail at the Clarke County Jail.
