A 16-year-old student was arrested Thursday at Clarke Central High School after she was found in possession of a military-grade knife, Athens-Clarke County police said.
A school administrator contacted police at about 8:30 a.m. concerning an Instagram photo of the knife accompanied by the student’s message that she was tired of arguing and “I gotta show em how violent I can get,” according to a police incident report.
The student was intercepted by another administrator and taken to an office where the book bag was searched, according to the report.
An opened 8-inch Army camo knife with a 3 ½-inch blade was found in the bag, resting inside a school binder, the report noted.
The student claimed she did not know how the knife got there.
She was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon in a school safety zone and taken to the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office, police said.
