Teen fears parent placed him in danger of Athens gang violence

Athens police recent learned that an 18-year-old was living in fear of a local street gang because his father confiscated drugs that he was supposed to sell for them.
Officers responded to the teen’s home to investigate a domestic disturbance when they learned what was making him so angry and upset.
“He stated that he didn’t know what to do as he had become involved in drug usage and the selling of drugs,” the police report says. “He stated he was involved in the Red Tape Gang and that the drugs he was supposed to sell for them had been confiscated by his father, who lives in Watkinsville.
“He was afraid for his safety due to this and also expressed anger about his family’s response,” according to the report
The gang that’s known as RTC is responsible for several murders in recent years.
