A 30-year-old Watkinsville man was charged with driving under the influence of drugs the afternoon of July 3rd by police who investigated reports about his strange behavior,

A motorist called 911 to report that Jaron Anderson was “tweaking” while driving a pickup truck, and minutes later dispatchers received another call concerning his behavior inside a store on Commerce Road, where he was “jumping towards the ceiling and acting crazy.”

An officer who responded to the store reported finding the man exhibiting signs of drug impairment that included “expressive body movements,” profuse sweating, and bloodshot eyes with constricted pupils.

Anderson first told the officer that his brother had driven him to the store but eventually admitted that he drove himself there in the pickup.

He was administered field sobriety tests which he failed and was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated on drugs.

After being placed in a police car, Anderson complained about his breathing and banged his head on the partition.

He was released on a citation and into the care of a National EMS ambulance crew that responded.
