ACCPD arrests more known gang members

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department on Wednesday arrested known local street gang members Tair Kuran Lawson, 27, and Trevious Omar Bugg, 26, as part of its continuing effort to target criminal street gang activity In the county.

Including Lawson and Bugg, ACCPD has now arrested 25 known gang members or associates since this initiative began late last year.

In addition, 17 firearms have been seized, along with drugs and stolen property, during the gang crackdown, according to polic.

”ACCPD is committed to protecting the community and will continue to focus our efforts on violent street gangs,”police said in a prepared statement Friday afternoon.

Lawson was arrested on a parole warrant and has a significant, violent criminal history with firearms, according to police, and at the time of his arrest, Lawson was on parole for violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon.


Bugg was arrested for Violation of Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, and False Statements. At the time of his arrest, Bugg was on probation for Aggravated Assault, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony, Terroristic Threats, and Battery.
