Airplane crashes in Oconee County

An airplane reportedly crashed in Oconee County Wednesday afternoon.

According to the sheriff’s office, the plane went down shortly after 3 p.m. in a field off of Government Station Road near Watkinsville.

Details about the incident were not yet available as emergency crews were still at the scene gathering information,

The aircraft was said to have been enroute to Winder from Florida when air traffic controllers lost sight of it on radar.
