An Athens teen who was shot this week at an eastside trailer park reportedly has been flown by helicopter with serious injuries to an Atlanta children’s hospital, where she is in the intensive care unit.

After 15-year-old Antijah Williford was found shot in the stomach Wednesday night at Hallmark Estates off of Spring Valley Road, police initially believed she had suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

However, after the girl was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and her injuries were determined to be severe, she was airlifted to the Atlanta hospital.

Lt. Shaun Barnett, ACCPD’s public information officer, initially said that there were no known witnesses, suspects, or possible motives. On Thursday he said there had been no new developments in the investigation.

The Cedar Shoals High School student was the third person to be injured by gun violence in Athens in four days.

A 31-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy were struck by bullet ricochets Saturday when gunfire erupted during a fight at Rocksprings Homes, for which three people from Atlanta were arrested.

The Hallmark Estates shooting investigation is ongoing, and police asked for anyone with information related to the incident to contact Detective Scott Black at 762-400-7058 or scott.black@accgov.com.
