An Athens man was arrested this week for allegedly posting videos of him having sex with an ex-girlfriend on social media.
According to an Athens-Clarke County police report, A 24-year-old local woman on Sept. 15 complained that she was being harassed by Dexter Lenor Echols Jr., 30, of Bonnie Lane.
“She expressed that her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Echols, has been distributing pictures and videos of her undressed as well as the two of them having sexual intercourse without her permission,” the report states.
The victim reported that Echols allegedly posted the images on Snapchat and also sent them to her mother’s phone, on which an officer was able to view the images, according to the report.
After further investigation, police obtained warrants charging Echols with electronic transmission of nudity or sexually explicit conduct, and two offenses charged under the state Family Violence Act: simple battery and criminal trespass/criminal damage to property.
Police officers arrested Echols late Thursday night. He also had a burglary warrant on file at the time.
Echols was being detained without bail Friday afternoon at the Clarke County Jail.
