A man reported that he was beaten and robbed this week at an Athens apartment complex, Athens-Clarke County police said.
According to police, the 22-year-old Stonehenge Way resident said a woman called him Tuesday and asked if he would cut her hair at her apartment, located at the Park at Athens complex on Lakeside Drive, and when he got there he was beaten and robbed by two males who wore black ski masks.
They reportedly stole a wallet containing $1,000, identity and debit cards, police said.a
The man initially said he did not want to file a report of the incident because “I don’t want to make a bigger deal out of this” and “I don't know who the other guys were,” according to police.
After the man later changed his mind about making a report, but said he did not wish to press charges on anyone, police said, including the 19-year-old who invited him to her apartment.
He declined medical treatment despite having visible injuries to his face, according to police.
An officer wrote in the report that he would not be seeking warrants against the woman at that time, but planned to follow up with the victim.
