A Clark County grand jury has indicted a man in connection with a beating and robbery that occurred last summer outside an Athens convenience store.

Donald Ray Adams is accused of repeatedly punching Pablo Vargas in the face and stealing his wallet, cash, car keys, and a cellphone on June 8th at Quick Pantry on North Avenue, according the indictment filed Tuesday in Superior,

He allegedly stole the items from the victim’s car after unlocking it with the keys he had taken from Vargas, and later used a stolen credit card to illegally make purchases.

Adams is charged in the indictment with aggravated assault, robbery, battery, entering a vehicle with intent to commit a felony, and financial transaction card fraud.

A Magistrate Court judge denied bail for Adams because he believed Adams posed a threat to the community and would likely commit additional crimes.

An arraignment is scheduled for February 18,

They used to hang horse thieves. Too bad we don't do the same to thieves like Donald.

Thieves like him will only progress to committing more and worse crimes.

Hanging would be a big deterrent.

Consequences need to matter.
