A man reportedly was shot Thursday afternoon at Nellie B Homes in east Athens.
Officers responded to the public housing community at about 4:19 a.m. after multiple 911 calls were made regarding gunshots being fired in the 300 block of Carver Drive within Nellie B, according to Athens-Clarke County police Lt. Shaun Barnett.
While on the scene, he said, the officers learned that 20-year-old Lamarkus Craig had been driven to St. Mary's Hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound.
He had been shot in the arm and the bullet lodged in his back, according to a police incident report.
The report indicates that after hearing the gunshots a witness saw a black male with gold-tipped dreadlocks get into a gray Honda sedan and drive away.
The car displayed a Georgia tag that ended with "9230," according to the report, which indicated that the incident was partially recorded by a neighbor's Ring camera, and investigators recovered spent shell casings from the scene.
The injuries were said to be not life-threatening.
"The identity of the shooter is not known at this time," Barnett said.
