An Athens man reportedly was arrested this week when he was found with drugs and a loaded gun while sleeping in his mother's driveway.

According to an Athens-Clarke County police report, a car driven by 39-year-old Tedero Anthony Phillips was followed Monday night by officers because he was known to have active arrest warrants.

Officers approached the car when they found it parked in the Waddell Street driveway of Phillips’ mother’s house, at which time they saw that Phillips was asleep and clutching a plastic bag containing fentanyl, a lighter, and a cut straw, according to the report, which noted that a loaded pistol was found on the car’s floorboard, along with various drugs that included cocaine, marijuana and Xanax; $885 was found in the suspect's pocket.

Phillips was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of drug objects, two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
