An Athens man was severely injured Tuesday night when he crashed his motorcycle while fleeing from police in a multi-county pursuit.
Corrie Day, 47, reportedly was life-flighted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center after the wreck on Georgia 316 in Barrow County.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, a trooper spotted Day at about 7:35 p.m. driving a motorcycle at about 108 mph in a 65-mph zone on the Georgia 10 Outer Loop at Old Hull Road in Athens.
The trooper activated his emergency lights and siren and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Day, but the biker reportedly fled through Clarke and Oconee counties, eventually crashing into the back of a pickup truck on Georgia 316 in at Carl Bethlehem Road in Barrow County.
The motorcyclist " was reckless, passing within the same lane occupied by other vehicles, changing lanes without using his turn signal, and speeding," said Sgt. Fist Class Ian Moreman, commanding officer of GSP Post 32 in Athens.
Very sad! This will cost society, family, and the government a lot of money and grief.
After reading this story, a Nelson from "The Simpsons" meme is perfect..."haha". Got almost what you deserved you POS. Glad noone else was hurt.
G O O D !
I rode for over 50 years, taught for Motorcycle Safety Foundation and have no sympathy for idiots. Running from a cop is idiotic. P/U drive would have been fine.
