Athens teen charged with sexually assaulting young girl

A Clarke County grand jury has indicted an Athens teenager who allegedly sexually assaulted a young girl.
Devin Lawrence, 17, of Hoyt Street, was charged with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy with force, and aggravated battery, according to the indictment filed Tuesday in Superior Court,
The victim is described by the indictment as a female who was under 10 years old.
The crimes allegedly occurred early in the morning of June 27th and Lawrence was arrested later in the day.
Judge Lawton Stephens denied him bail on the basis that he would pose a significant risk of reoffending while awaiting trial.
