An Athens woman was arrested after she allegedly threatened neighbors with a frying pan at an apartment complex off North Avenue.
According to police, officers responded Sunday night to the Wynter Court complex on a report that 20-year-old Jordan Ashley Young was “threatening everyone with a frying pan.”
The incident, which police said was recorded by a witness’ cellphone, involved Johnson taking a swing at a man with the kitchen implement, then beating on his door with it after he retreated into his home, causing an estimated $1,000 in damages.
After being taken into custody, police said, Young managed to slip out of handcuffs and she had to be placed in restraints because she kept trying to get out of a police car.
She was charged with simple assault, criminal damage to property, and obstruction of law enforcement.
Young was released from the county jail upon posting bonds totaling $5,500.
