Authorities are investigating death of a three-month-old child that occurred this weekend in his parent's home on Barrington Drive.

Athens-Clarke County Coroner Sonny Wilson said there were no visible indications that that the infant had suffered any trauma.

The cause of death will likely be determined by the results of an autopsy that was scheduled for this morning at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's State Crime Lab in Decatur, the coroner said.

According to Wilson, the baby's father said that when he fed the baby at 3:30 a.m. Saturday his son appeared to be fine, but when the father woke up later that morning the infant was unresponsive in his bassinet.

The baby was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner said.

Wilson said it could take up to three months for him to receive the autopsy report.
