Athens artist Camille Hayes showcases solo exhibition

Camille Hayes, an Athens-based artist, plays a significant role in the city's art community. She operates the ATH gallery, a venue that promotes local artists. Her art combines abstract elements with sleek design, often inspired by music. Her graphic design work is minimalist, focusing on icon creation and type pairings. Her style, influenced by live music, has developed from her interest in illustration and custom letterforms.

In 2019, Hayes established the ATH gallery, a local art center. The gallery hosts monthly art parties to celebrate exhibitions and foster community connections. This week, the gallery presents 'B Sides,' Hayes' first solo exhibition in ten years, featuring her abstract interpretations of musical instruments.

Hayes' involvement in Athens goes beyond her artwork. She endorses K.A. Artist Shop and Flat File Print Shop for art supplies and classes, and Lyndon House Arts Center and ATHICA for exhibitions. For live music, she recommends Buvez and Flicker Theatre and Bar. Her typical Saturday in Athens involves freelance design work, disc golf at Sandy Creek Park, and live music at 40 Watt or Flicker.

Recently, Hayes worked with Visit Athens, GA, and Condor Chocolates, a local chocolatier, to design a chocolate bar wrapper that represents Athens. This project demonstrated Hayes' versatility and her affection for Athens, as well as the city's dedication to its creative sector.

In summary, Camille Hayes is a key contributor to Athens' art community through her artwork, gallery, and collaborations. Her work is a testament to her strong ties with the city and its creative community.
