CCSD Announces Another ‘Community Conversation on Safety in Our Schools’ Event

Writer: Classic City NewsClassic City News

The Clarke County School District has announced an additional “Community Conversation on Safety in Our Schools” event. The discussion is open to the public and will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 6-7 p.m. at the District Office, 595 Prince Ave., Athens.

The event follows the community forums with CCSD leaders that were held in September and will be the same format as the community discussions that were held earlier this month at Cedar Shoals and Clarke Central high schools. Attendees will have the opportunity to brainstorm ideas and solutions to promote safety at CCSD schools. Participants will share in small groups their experiences and have a chance to hear from each other as well as district staff.

Those who plan to attend the event are asked to sign up at: qrco.de/NovCommConvos. Spanish-language interpreters will be on hand for assistance.

Hmmm….suspend kids who fight and/or create an unsafe environment. If we are so worried about those kids, missing instruction, give them a laptop (you already do) and allow them to have learning opportunities at home. Create digital alternative school.

And who supervises them at home? I don’t know any households that are privileged enough to be able to stay home with their kids during the day and not work. Do you? More unsupervised children isn’t the answer.
