CCSD Announces Next Round of ‘Community Conversations on School Safety’ Events

The Clarke County School District has announced its next series of community discussions on safety in our schools. The discussions are open to the public and will be held:

● 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, in the Cedar Shoals High School media center, 1300 Cedar Shoals Dr.

● 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the Clarke Central High School media center, 350 South Milledge Ave.

The events are a follow-up to the initial “Community Conversations on School Safety” that were held Sept. 5 at Cedar Shoals and Sept. 6 at Clarke Central. These conversations will allow attendees to brainstorm and discuss ideas with district staff on promoting safety in all schools. As part of the district’s new 2024-2029 Strategic Plan, CCSD is committed to creating a safe and trusting environment for staff and students.

Those who plan to attend next week's sessions are asked to sign up at: qrco.de/OctCommConvos. Spanish-language and American Sign Language interpreters will be on hand at both events.

CCSD is trying to check a box that says 'we tried'. Ask me dammit! I'll tell you about school safety. How about immediate suspension for any fighting. Jail time for being armed and community service for the parent of any child who is guilty of any manner of safety violation. If the parents don't get involed (both in the prevention and the repercussion) the little bastards will continue to terrorize their peers. Why did this not happen 50 years ago? Two parent families and Corporal Punishment.
