Guns and drugs seized during search of convicted felon's home in east Athens

A convicted felon was arrested Tuesday when members of the Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at his apartment in east Athens, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.

According to Christopher Nichols, commanding officer of the Criminal Investigation Division,

seized contraband included three rifles, two pistols and "quantities" of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and various prescription pills.

The resident of the apartment at 1645 East Broad St., William Vincent Martin, 54, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Martin had been convicted of two felonies, according to Clarke County Superior Court records: burglary in 2004, and robbery in 2008.
