A convicted killer was recently arrested after someone reported seeing him shooting a gun into a wooded area off Winterville Road near Lexington Road, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.

When Sgt. Clint Dieball saw a man fitting the description of the shooter, later identified as 34-year-old Dusty Antonio Anderson of Riverview Apartments on College Avenue, the suspect ran into some bushes but was the officer quickly found and arrested him, a gun located in the immediate area.

Anderson denied shooting a gun and said he was with other people who were with him that were shooting, but the police report indicated that the suspect was by himself.

Anderson was arrested for reckless conduct and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
